Dog’s Constipation | # | health — Administrator @ 3:07 am

The Usual Suspects

Too little fiber. Dietary fiber, the indigestible, healthful stuff found in vegetables, cereals, and legumes, has been called nature’s scrub rush because it helps stools move more quickly through the body. Most commercial dog foods contain a lot of cereals which are very high in fiber. Dogs who mainly eat meat, however. may not be getting enough fiber to stay regularly.

Not enough water. The stools absorb large amounts of water in the digestive tract, and as they swell, they stimulate the intestines, Dogs who don’t drink much water  because it’s not available or because their thirst mechanisms aren’t as sensitive as they should be often get constipated because the stools are too hard and small to stimulate intestinal movements.

Lack of exercise. The large intestine is a muscle, and like any muscle it needs regular exercise to work efficiently.

Overweight. Dogs who are a little pudgy are more likely to get constipated because fat deposits in the abdomen can interfere with the intestines’ normal movements. Overweight dogs also tend to get less exercise, and this makes the intestines work less efficiently.

Eating trash. Dogs who sanck on garbage are more likely to get diarrhea than constipation, except when they eat cardboard, paper, or plastic, which can partially block the digestive tract and make it harder for stools to get through.

Checking Your Dog’s Water Balance | # | health — Administrator @ 4:25 am

You’d think that dogs who are drinking huge amounts of water would get waterlogged, but the opposite is true: They often get dehydrated because of an underlying medical problem that’s taking water from the body despite their best efforts to keep up. To check for dehydration, lift the skin on the dog’s back near the neck. Release it and see how quicly it snaps back - it should be firm and springy within seconds. when dogs are dehydrated, the skin will creep back slowly or not at all. This means their body is very low on water and they need to see a vet right away.

Encourage your dog to eat | # | health — Administrator @ 4:01 am

Dogs with kennel cough are often reluctant to eat because their throats are sore, which can be a problem because they need extra nutrients to help their immune systems stave off secondary infections. One way to encourage dogs to eat is to warm up their food a little, which releases aromas that stimulate their appetites. One also recommends stirring chicken or beef broth into their food. This makes it more appetizing and also softens it so they’ll find it a bit easier to get down.

Dog Scratching | # | health — Administrator @ 2:39 am

Persistent Scratching. Most of the things that cause itching, such as allergies and fleas, are fairly easy to treat at home - either by getting rid of the underlying cause of the itching or by treating the symptom itself. The problem with persistent scratching is that dogs  can damage the skin, causing hard-to-heal sores or infections. It’s worth asking your veterinarian what the problem is and whether there’s a long-term treatment that’s likely to be effective.

Finding Stuff for Your Pups Online | # | accesories, health — Administrator @ 5:44 am

Many online shops that are open in the web use a shopping cart software that conveniently lets a shopper browse through the catalog and pick as they go along. Good sites give you great deals and may even give you freebies if you are up to date with their news and promotions. As a pet owner, it is very convenient and easy for me to buy me pet products on the internet because it can save time and money. I don’t need to ask somebody else to buy things for me on the store because everything is on the internet and all I have to do is to choose, click and purchase. This is really easy, I can’t wait to buy new pet things for my two shih tzus! They’re sleeping now and I need to have a rest now for I will be busy tomorrow. Duh, I was planning to send my dogs at the salon tomorrow for their grooming but I don’t have time anymore for it. I might send them there next week :)

Chill from the Summer Heat | # | health — Administrator @ 2:10 pm

Your dog is much more vulnerable to summer heat than you are. Make sure he/she has shade and plenty of water if left in the yard. Be especially careful when exercising your dog during the hot season. Do not force your dog to run or walk with you. Exercise with your dog only if you are confident that you can recognize when he/she has had enough. Provide plenty of water at all times. Heat stroke is a very real (and life threatening) possibility if your dog overheats. Don’t hesitate to contact your vet if your dog seems under distress due to the heat.

Maybe someone could soon invent a computer for dogs so that they could play games and chill all the more. This could give them time to enjoy like catch the ball or online casino games. I don’t think this will be impossible. Computers where thought to be impossible to make several decades ago. Today, nothing seems to be enough. People just keep on inventing. Why not invent something for our dear pets.

General Cleaning | # | grooming, health — Administrator @ 3:04 pm

My dogs are having fleas and ticks on their bodies and I’ve tried different topical solutions just to get rid of it. But after putting those solutions, those pests are still clinging on my dogs’ fur and it really pissed me off. So, next week I am planning to have a general cleaning around our house to clean our surroundings and to disinfect our rooms and hopefully those pests will be gone forever. While were having our general cleaning I am planning to let my dogs go to the salon to have a new haircut for the year 2008. Then, I’ll buy another topical solutions for them so when they enter the house, the fleas and ticks won’t come to their cute bodies. I hope this will be effective because I spend a lot for them last year and I’ll be spending a thousand of bucks for this planned general cleaning. Anyways, I might try my luck to an online casino so I can have enough money for my dogs. As for what I’ve heard and seen, this site offers the best services and programs online. It is a reputable site and you won’t hesitate to try it on your own. They review all the online casino rooms so everything will be in order. Sounds really nice, I gotta end this now so I will have enough time for my first online casino experience for the love of my dogs!
